In surveillance footage that dates back to April 3rd, 2017, Officer Shaulis is seen grabbing a
student of African American background, who had just been dismissed from the office as he walks through the hallway. The officer drags him inside and into a hallway where allegedly the officer threw the student to the floor and knocked one of his teeth out when he delivered a punch to his face.
The confrontation is related to a stolen a cell phone that the officers were investigating in the school and the student, Que’Chawn Wade, was brought into the principal's office for questioning.

In another footage that dates back to 2015, officer Shaulis is seen again use excessive force on another student who was a minor at the time, and also an African american. In the video, which was released around the same time as the April, 2017 footage with Wade, another student is seen inside the waiting room of the High School administration building. He sits calmly, with hint that he may be trying to avoid possible chatter coming from Shaulis who guards the exit door into the hallway of the school. Then suddenly, Shaulis walks up to the student and grabs him, he drags along the hallway until it can be
seen that the officer pushes the student down onto the floor to make an arrest.
Civil rights attorney Todd Hollis is representing Wade and another student who has been a victim of violent treatment and assault by Officer Shaulis, has expressed his frustration for the way that students have been treated by the officer.
The attorney has gone as far as to offer a public boxing match with Officer Shaulis, so that he may try to punch someone his own size for one.
He and another attorney, Tim O'Brien, are considering lawsuits against the Shaulis, Kevin Murray, and other officials at the school implicated in the string of assaults against students.
