Steve MacLaughlin (Journalist) is an experienced meteorologist and reporter with over 20 years in Journalism who currently works at NBCUniversal Media LLC, Miami, Florida. He currently work as a meteorologist and climate change reporter. He had previously worked as a meteorologist with NBC News in New York City, Tribune Media in Philadelphia, and in New York. Steve is a four times Emmy award winner and he has also received 11 nominations. He graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor degree in Meteorology.
Education
Steve MacLaughlin attended Rutgers University in New Jersey and he graduated with honors in 1998 with a bachelor's degree in Meteorology. He was the president of Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity while he was in the university. MacLaughlin is also a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist through the American Meteorology Society. [1]
Career
Steve MacLaughlin, while in the University started off his career by interning at NBC 4 in the New York. After some time he was hired as a weather producer for NBC 4 and for NBC's Today's show, which gives him the opportunity to work with his mentor, Al Roker. After his bachelor's degree, Steve proceeded to work with NBC 12 in Richmond Virginia, before moving to WPHL-TV, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2000. MacLaughlin became a Chief Meteorologist at WPHL before leaving for KSAX in 2004.
MacLaughlin resumed as a Meteorologist at KXAS-TV, the NBC-owned station in Dallas, Texas in 2004, where he spent six years giving weather reports. He was also opportune to fill in at PIX 11 in New York City and The Weather Channel in Atlanta before leaving in 2010.
In February 2017, Steve MacLaughlin joined NBC 6 in Miami as a climate change reporter and a meteorologist. MacLaughlin has won the Emmy award four times, including Outstanding weathercaster in 2019, and has been nominated eleven times. He has also won the Associate Press Award for Best Weathercaster.
