In May of 2016, Bourgoin was charged with domestic assault and unlawful restraint after threatening to kill his girlfriend.
Deadly Crash of Five Teenagers
In the early morning of October 9th, Bourgoin was driving in a 2012 Toyota Tundra down Interstate 89 near exits 11-12 in Williston in the wrong direction when he crashed into a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta, killing all five teenagers inside the vehicle. When police arrived at the scene, Bourgoin stole a police cruiser and started driving southbound.
When police attempted to intercept the cruiser, Bourgoin made a U-Turn and drove in the other direction in which he later crashed into seven other vehicles.
He was ejected from the cruiser while it burst into flames.
Bourgoin was taken into police custody and transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center with injuries that are not life-threatening.
Bourgoin was wheeled into his arraignment in his hospital gown and a stretcher.
He pleaded not guilty to five counts of second-degree murder.
