Stephanie Ramos is an American journalist based in Kansas City, Missouri. She is a news reporter at ABC News. [1]
Education
Ramos graduated from Fordham University in 2004. She went on to attend Iona College, graduating in 2005 with a Master's degree in Communication and Media Studies. [20]
Career
Ramos started her career as an Assignment Editor at WIS-TV.
From 2007-2012, she worked as a TV News Reporter/Anchor at WIBW-TV.[2]
Prior to joining ABC News, Ramos anchored and reported for KMBC-TV. Her work was particularly notable for her coverage of immigrant children caught crossing into the U.S. from Mexico.
James Goldston, ABC News president, said in a statement about Ramos' promotion:
"Stephanie is a terrific and versatile reporter who has covered the contentious Alabama Senate race, the tragic Parkland shooting, Hurricane Irma, the 2016 election and the Charlottesville protests since she joined our Washington bureau in 2015.
She has reported live for GMA and World News Tonight, done hundreds of radio reports and two-way calls, filed weekly for NewsOne and served as a Pentagon reporter.”[6]
Military service
In 2008, Ramos served as a 1st Lieutenant in Iraq and was awarded multiple medals for her exceptional service including the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and Iraq Campaign Medal.

Ramos went to a performing arts school, and musical theater was her favorite.
As a child, she wanted to be a teacher and a singer.
Her first job was being a cashier at Hollywood Video.[17]
Ramos's first concert was Janet Jackson at Madison Square Garden with her mom. Her favourite food is avocado eggrolls from The Cheesecake Factory, cheesecake, IHOP pancakes, cheesy alfredo pasta and broccoli.[17]
Stephanie's favorite restaurant is The Cheesecake Factory. Ramos told about her favorite sports team:
"So I'm from NYC, so I guess I'm supposed to like the Yankees.
I mean, I've had a Yankees cap for 15 years now.
I wear it every time I go to the airport.
But now I'm feeling like the Chiefs because I wear red every Friday.
One time I had to borrow a Chiefs jersey for a shoot, and it made me want to buy my own."[17]
Ramos's favorite movies are Black Hawk Down, Sex and the City, 13 Going on 30, and The Notebook.[17]
Ramos and her husband, Emio Tomeoni, tied the knot of their wedding on September 5, 2010.
In September 2017 on her special day, she shared the wedding pictures remembering this day on her Instagram to mark their seven years anniversary. She captioned the image with a message dedicated to her husband. She penned:
When we took this picture.... moments after saying 'I Do' all I wanted to do was re-live our wedding ceremony.
The only future I could process was if the cellist would be in place by the time we got to the reception.
There were all these things we didn't know.... but now 7 yrs later it's amazing to look at those 2 people.
As our 6 yr old keeps calling my name "momma"...
"momma".... and our 2 yr old once again dumps a giant bucket of legos on our clean living room floor.... I couldn't be happier with what we look like 7 years later.

Furthermore, in 2014 Stephanie announced that she was expecting their second baby.
And soon after in 2015, their second son came to their life whose name and birth details are still unknown.[18]
Ramos said her mother and her husband had the biggest influence on her life:
"My mom from day 1, has always motivated me and supported me in all that I do.
She was strict when she needed to be and I appreciate all she’s done.
My husband has also been a huge influence in everything I do and helps me strive to be a better person every day.
I’m lucky to have 2 anchors in my life."[17]
Ramos told about her most memorable story assignment:
"It was the summer of 2012.
I was reporting for the evening shows.
I interviewed a mother who had just lost her daughter and 2 toddler granddaughters to a murder suicide at the hands of the daughters’ boyfriend.
It was one of the most tragic stories I’ve ever come across.
The girls were beautiful.
I still think about them today.
That mother was brave to speak to me yet angry.
But it was my job to tell her story, share with everyone how wonderful her family was.
She showed strength and re-emphasized how important my job is: I had the opportunity to dip into her life.
In news we have a different perspective of how we see things but for me its impossible to not be emotionally tied to these stories.
Because these are horrible events that are happening to people just like you and me.
But I’ve been the one to talk to the grieving mother or family member about what just happened.
Why?
so that maybe we can prevent this from happening to someone else.
So that the neighbor down the street knows what’s going on in their neighborhood."[17]
Ramos said she would like to interview Barbara Walters, the President and Alicia Keys:
"Barbara Walters, one of the Bachelorettes, but I might be too annoyed during that interview, that might not work out.
Of course I'd like to interview the President.
The one person I would like to talk to is Alicia Keys.
We went to high school together, so I want to see if she remembers me so we can reminisce or just talk about her upcoming project before she moves on to the next reporter."[17]
