Stefano Malachi Chandra (born 30 December 1988), known professionally as Stefano Malachi, is a UK-based Indonesian Instagram star.[5] He was born on 30 December 1988 in Surabaya, East Java. He has traveled to 30 countries, experienced their local culture, architecture, & gastronomy. His passion for gastronomy and luxurious travel has brought him to be mentioned as top 1% on Tripadvisor in London. He is very active on his Instagram daily to share his passion for gastronomy and travel.[3]
Personal
Born in Indonesia, where food and travel are very diverse, Stefano spent his childhood in Surabaya, the second-largest city in Indonesia.
Stefano is the second and youngest child.
Grew up in Java, the nation's main island, he often spent his time traveling locally such as Malang, Gunung Bromo, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Bali; back in the time when there was not any internet connection to share his experience online.[7]
Early Career
Stefano has always been in love with photography since he learned it from scratch at Darwis Triadi School of Photography in Surabaya.
Darwis Triadi was his mentor during his study from basic to intermediate photography.
Stefano learned a lot of techniques from Food Photography to Fashion Photography.[6] After certified in Advanced Photography, Stefano used all the knowledge he learned to do freelance, helping a professional photographer for hotel, interior, and restaurant commercial work.
This was then how Stefano Malachi started his Instagram in 2012 as a matter of personal hobby.
Achievement
Through hard work, by 2018, he had reached the top 1% on TripAdvisor for the UK and expanded his reviews to include luxurious hotel chains, reviewing fifty luxury hotel resorts in four top tourist spots: UK, Singapore, Bali, and Qatar.[11] His Instagram has attracted fans all over the world, and his blog has received over 3 million views.
Stefano has reviewed over 300 restaurants in the UK alone, including the popular Aqua Restaurants Group, such as Aqua Shard, Hutong, Aqua Nueva, and Aqua Kyoto, and over 100 luxury hotels and resorts including International hotel groups such as Marriott, Hilton, Kempinski, and Four Seasons.[4]
