St. Lang-Yang-Cheu

St. Lang-Yang-Cheu also known as Saint Yangzhi Lang was born c.1871 in Lu, Qinghe, Hebei, China. She was a Lay woman in the Apostolic vicariate of Southeastern Zhili, China.[1][2]

Life of St. Lang-Yang-Cheu

St. Lang-Yang-Cheu married a Christian man, became a Catechumen, and a local model of Christian charity. Mother of Saint Paulus Lang Fu. Martyred in the anti–Christian persecutions of the Boxer Rebellion.

She was tied to an ash tree, stabbed with spears, and her body was thrown into her house which the killers set on fire, on 16 July 1900 in Lujiapo, Qinghe, Hebei, China .

Remains of her body parts was recovered from the burned house by her husband, and he buried them nearby.

St. Lang-Yang-Cheu was Venerated by Pope Pius XII (decree of martyrdom) on 22 February 1955, Beatified by Pope Pius XII on 17 April 1955 and Canonized by Pope John Paul II on 1 October 2000. Her Feast day is 16 July and 28 September as one of the Martyrs of China.
