Spencer Nicodemus (July 22, 1998 - March 2, 2017) was an 18-year-old from Joplin, Missouri. His friends and peers would often refer to him as 'Nico.'
Life and Outdoorsman Activities
Spencer was born and raised in Joplin and went on to attend Joplin High School. Spencer was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and played football at one point but decided to leave the team to pursue other passions. Spencer found great joy in his fishing and hunting excursions, often posting his catches and game on his Facebook. He was an avid fan of professional fishing and worked at Academy Sports + Outdoors where he helped people with their outdoorsman needs.
Kindness Towards Others

Spencer cared deeply about his friend, Kiley Duvall, and took her on a variety of dates ranging from fishing to exploring pumpkin patches. He would always do his best to treat her with respect. [1] Spencer was involved in his local Church and attended YoungLife Camp, a religious retreat for teenagers and young adults. There, people did not only the close bond that Spencer had with his sister, Sam Nicodemus, but the positivity and kindness he radiated towards his peers. Spencer is remembered for his infectious smile, sense of humor, and enthusiasm for life.

On March 2, 2017, Spencer was volunteering at Irving Elementary School when a basketball backboard fell on him. He was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. A GoFundMe was created to help his family with the funeral arrangements; a total of $6,315 was donated via the campaign.
