Sur was a valedictorian of Stuyvesant High School, graduating at the top of her class. She ran the school's independent paper, The Spectator, and co-taught a journalism class with the The New York Times. She also participated in the National Honor Society, Model UN, extemporaneous speaking and cross-country. 
Sur moved on to Yale University where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Economics and South East Asian Studies. There, she ran student-led programs at the admissions office, started the annual South Asian Film Festival, was a freshman counselor and Freshman Outdoor Orientation Trips leader, she wrote and took photos for the Yale Daily News, and she farmed for the Yale sustainable food project. During this time she also won a Light Fellowship, a Kingsley Fellowship, and a South Asian Studies fellowship.
Sur finished up her schooling at Harvard Business School where she earned a Master of Business Administration and graduated in the top 5% as a Baker Scholar. At Harvard Sur was Entrepreneurship Club Co-President and Section D Social Chair. She was also involved in Tech, Venture Capital & Private Equity, Entertainment & Media, Boxing, and Bhangra. 
Sur began her career as a Business Analyst for McKinsey & Company where she was workstream lead on thirteen projects across seven industries. She created six initiatives and piloted three to successfully boost customer acquisition, even designing a new sales channel with 2-3x ROI. She also worked on climate change risk assessment, designing a $10 billion dollar infrastructure plan. She was the only NY analyst to present a new idea at the competitive McKinsey Practice Olympics finals in Athens, Greece. 
Next, Sur worked as Principal at Independent Media Consulting where she advised media clients like BuzzFeed, Scroll.in, Spuul, and Phantom Films. Sur designed emerging market launch strategies for BuzzFeed and wrote Scroll.in ’s first white paper on digital advertising growth in India. She oversaw user and ad revenue growth at Indian content streaming service, Spuul, where she negotiated with ad networks to increase ad revenues by 6x. At Phantom Films she annotated over twenty scripts and selected eight for a Phantom-Blumhouse Productions deal.
She went on to become an Investment Team Summer Associate at Lightbox where she mentored interns and worked with VC founders on their main interests for a short three months. Afterwards she spent four months as a Summer Associate at Otter Media where she focused on content monetization for Reese Witherspoon's platform for millenial women, HelloSunshine.
