Adam Smith, better known as Smitty, is a blogger and game Streamer for Barstool Sports. He is based in New York City but is originally from outside Philadelphia. He is the host of Barstool Gametime, Barstool's gamer outlet. He is also known for his rivalry with his coworker Nate and has accused him of undercutting him and going after low-hanging Fruit for pageviews. He is a Head of Barstool Philly. RnR2 champ. Super Bowl 52 champ. Former pasta pusher, and mush at stand up and poker and life.[9][11]

Biography

Early Life and Education

He was born in 1984 and grew up in Malvern, Pennsylvania, a town located 40 miles northwest of Philadelphia. He attended Great Valley High School where he played drums and was an athlete, participating on his school's football, basketball, and baseball teams. He excelled as the tight end on his school football team, and after graduating went on to play at Susquehanna University. His college career was marked by injuries, tearing his ACL and shattering his tibia during his sophomore year as well as separating his shoulder his senior year. It was during his time recovering from his first injury in the handicap dorms that he discovered online poker. He would graduate with a degree in broadcasting in 2007.

After college, He went on to do stand up comedy in the Philadelphia metro area.

As he moved up in the scene, He decided to move to New York City in 2010 with the plan of moving in with his college girlfriend, work as a freelance film producer, and hone his chops as a comedian.

He faced a number of difficulties in New York with fellow comedians stealing his jokes and freelance work being scarce.

He would turn to online poker and found moderate success, being awarded $75,000 and $125,000 in online tournaments.

From 2010-2011, he considered himself a professional online poker player and by his own estimation was terrible.

At the end of his run, his girlfriend had left him, he was in debt, and he lost touch with his comedic roots.

He was forced to move back to his hometown of Malvern.

In Malvern, He took whatever odd jobs were available including holding temp jobs, coaching baseball lessons, and selling artisanal pasta at a farmers' market.

As a side hobby, he started the Philadelphia Sports blog, Almight Philly.

By the time he had his blog rolling, he was following Barstool Sports and answered David Portnoy's open call for a Philadelphia blogger.

Smitty would convince the Barstool Philly blogger at the time Mo to bring him on as an unpaid blogger.

In 2013, Portnoy started paying He was as a part-time employee, which would eventually lead to his full-time employment.

Due to his confrontational nature, He has had ups and downs at Barstool and was at one point fired, only to be re-hired a week later due to loyal fan support.

Along with being the resident Philly blogger, He is the host of Barstool Gametime where he streams himself playing video games such as Fortnite on Twitch. [12]
