Simone Syed is Founder and Managing Partner of Velorum Capital, a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage blockchain, financial technology (fintech), artificial intelligence, machine learning, and medical technology companies.

Syed is based in San Francisco, California.

Syed graduated from the University of Arizona with degrees in Evolutionary Biology and Cognitive Psychology.

From 2006 to 2011 Syed worked in marketing and business development for various companies, and in 2008 cofounded the BIL Conference as a populist analogue to TED Talks.

In 2011 Syed cofounded GammaPay, a short-lived mobile payments startup, and later that year became Chief of Marketing for Bitcoin.com.

Also in 2011, Syed founded the BlackStarr Group, which focused on integrating space, biotechnology, and high technology into popular culture.

From 2013 to 2014 Syed was Investor in Residence at Mithril Capital.

Syed founded her own early-stage venture capital firm, Velorum Capital, in 2013, and presently serves as its Managing Partner.
