Simon Lycett
Simon Lycett is a world-renowned floral decorator and stylist from the UK. His list of clientele includes The Queen of Norway, Royal Academy, Elton John, Veuve Clicquot and Dunhill. [1]
He is the Chief Executive Officer of Simon J Lycett Ltd, an accredited supplier to London’s top venues, experienced at working on both large scale and small, intimate dinners.
Early Life
Simon was born and raised in Warwick, England he picked up an interest in floristry at the age of seven and was inspired by the local town flower show in Warwick. [3]
He said in an interview
“I was seven years old and Mum took us to a local park where they were holding a flower show.
I went inside the tent and the spark just hit me to the core.”
In another interview with Flowerona he said [2]
“I was also inspired by our neighbour, Norma, who used to teach City & Guilds and do wedding flowers for friends.
I used to sit by her side and learn.
I’ve had no formal training apart from her.”
“Ever since then, it’s how I’ve always wanted to earn my living.”
Career
Simon Lycett
He started his career doing flowers for film and television commercials back in the 90’s.
In 1993, he did the flowers for the film ‘Four Weddings and a Funeral’ which was released in 1994.
It generated quite a number and after that he was asked to do flowers for real people’s weddings and parties, and the odd funeral.
He is extremely proud to be one of only two cross palace suppliers for The Historic Royal Palaces, an honour which he has held for several years.
They are based in Camberwell in London in a series of four railway arches.
As a famous professional florist, he has appeared on both satellite and terrestrial TV in the UK, he was even charge of the flower arrangement for the wedding of the football legend David Beckham. [3]
In the interview he explained how he gets his inspiration
"I’m inspired by the changing seasons.
When I’m using dahlias and amaryllis for an arrangement, I think about how it would look with peonies and sweet peas in the summer.
You can reinvent yourself because of the fact that your raw materials change and the seasons change.
It helps to keep you fresh."

He is known for his work on Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Where Angels Fear to Tread (1991) and The World's Biggest Flower Market (2016). [4]
He's been a florist for David Beckham’s wedding , Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace and many more.
