Shu Pei-Pei

Shu Pei-Pei (born 28 November 1948) is a Chinese actress, most famous for her roles in Shaw Brothers films.[1]

Early life

Born in Shanghai, Shu went to Hong Kong with her mother and siblings at the age of 10. She learnt ballet and singing and in 1966, was the first runner-up in the "Miss Seiko Beauty Contest", a competition co-sponsored by Seiko and Shaw Brothers Studios.

Career

Following her participation the 1966 Miss Seiko Beauty Contest, Shu signed a five-year contract with Shaw Brothers.

She was initially type-cast and performed as a dancer in The Mating Season (1966).[2]

Shu continued her studies of the performing arts at the Southern Experimental Theatre. Before her graduation, she was spotted by director Hsu Cheng-Hung to play a supporting role in The Thundering Sword (1967). She went on to star in several other wuxia films.
