She was married to Steve Shirley and they both owned the now-shuttered The Mayfair stores in Cambridge, Ohio. They were married in 1966.
Their 51st wedding anniversary would have been on January 28, 2017.
Death
Shirley and Steve Timmons flew into the Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport on January 6, 2017 to join the rest of their family for a cruise vacation.
As the couple were standing at a baggage carousel, Esteban Santiago Ruiz randomly started shooting at people, killing Shirley and four others.
Her husband was shot in the face, and remains in a coma.
