Personal Life
Shirleen Allicot was born on August 15, 1974 in Guyana.
At an early age of three, her parents moved to the United States. Her ethnicity is known to be Afro-American and she is an American by Nationality.
Education
She gained her Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast journalism at Hofstra University in Hempstead, Long Island.
Career
Shirleen began her career with News 12 Networks in one of New York's toughest boroughs, and News 12 the Bronx, where she shot, wrote, and edited her own stories, and anchored the weekday morning newscasts.
Before coming to WABC-TV, she was the co-anchor of Action News at 4 on WPVI and Action News at 10 on WPHL in Philadelphia.
She covered everything from Hurricane Sandy to the Boston Marathon Bombings to the deadly 2015 Amtrak derailment.
Among her memorable moments are interviewing First Lady Michelle Obama in the White House Kennedy Garden, and live reports in Chicago for Oprah's final farewell.
Marital Life
She got married to Jesse Gilmer.
Shirleen and her husband began dating in 2014 and got married in June 2016.
And in late June 2018, Shirleen Allicot and her husband celebrated their second wedding anniversary marking the event by flying out in a chartered helicopter to Paris-the city of love. Returning from their celebrations, they renewed their wedding vows.
The celebration was quite a spectacle as Shirleen and her husband not only traveled around the city in a special blue chopper but also had a dinner date at the city's finest restaurant.
In 2017, adding more proofs to her healthy relationship, the broadcaster took it to Instagram to reveal that she was 38-weeks pregnant with the couple's first child.
Later on 15 March, 2017, she welcomed her baby daughter, Shayla Joëlle Gilmer. Her baby made her TV debut on her mother’s show, Eyewitness News at Noon on 17 March, 2017.
Despite having just returned back to the studio following the birth of her baby, strictly professional Shirleen made sure to locate where her preference lies.
On May 2018, Shirleen had to choose between her toddler girl and assignment of Royal wedding on May 2018. It was a tough decision for a woman who had just entered motherhood.
However prioritizing work, she handled sadness of leaving her daughter and asked her mother to take care of Shayla before subsequently leaving for London on 14 May, 2018 where she had to report about the royal wedding of Prince Harry and Princess Meghan Markle.
She reported live on abc7y networks about the wedding and covered people's opinions about Meghan.
Shirleen successfully fulfilled her responsibility as an anchor/reporter keeping people updated about the wedding events.
However, when it came to her taking updates, she must really have had a high phone bill calling across the pond asking about her daughter.
In July 13, 2019, Shirleen Allicot and family welcome another baby girl![9]
"Shayla is pretty excited about being a big sister, but there are signs there will be some adjusting,"
Shirleen said.
Shirleen, Jesse (Shirleen’s husband), Shayla and baby Gigi (Georgina) are doing great as a sweet family of four! [13]
