Shirin Rajaee (17 January 1982; Farsi: شيرين رجايى) is an Iranian-American weekend news anchor and weeknight reporter at KOVR, the CBS affiliate in Sacramento, California.
Early Life and Education
A native of Los Angeles, California, Rajaee graduated from Arcadia High School in 2000 and went on to attend the University of California, Los Angeles, from which she graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Journalism.
Career
Rajaee began her career in journalism in earnest at the Los Angeles bureau of CNN, where she worked from 2008 to 2011 producing programs such as Larry King Live , Issues with Jane Velez-Mitchell , and Showbiz Tonight . Concurrently, Rajaee worked as an entertainment host and producer at the Persian Broadcasting Company, where she hosted its weekly Calendar Show. From 2011 to 2015 Rajaee worked for KEYT, the ABC affiliate in Santa Barbara, California, and KKFX and KCOY, the respective Fox and CBS affiliates in California's Central Coast, as an anchor and reporter, during which she covered the Isla Vista shooting by Eliot Rodger and won a 2014 Golden Mike Award for Best News Reporting. Rajaee joined the staff of KOVR in late 2015.
