Early Life
Shireen Sandoval grew up battling Guillain–Barré syndrome. As a child, she had so much energy and was very ambitious she wanted to be a teacher, doctor, actress and lawyer all at once. she spent a lot of time with her grandfather, the late Robert Wilkes, who worked in the entertainment industry and was the first to expose her to the world of TV and film. Mr. Wilkes was a sound engineer and jack of all trades. After years of working behind the scenes of major TV shows and motion pictures like the Exorcist, Mr. Wilkes retired into theatre and at one point worked at the famed Kennedy Theatre in Washington, D.C.
She bagged her Bachelor of Science in both Broadcast Journalism and Theatre Arts from Eastern New Mexico University.[4]
Career
Shireen Sandoval started her broadcasting career at the American Broadcasting Company and NBC affiliates in Amarillo, Texas, as a Reporter/Anchor. During this period she birth her entertainment idea, lifestyles segment “Shireen On The Scene”. Her catchy phrases and her fun-loving reporting style fast-tracked her to the FOX affiliate in Indianapolis, Indiana in the early 2000. At FOX she continued her “On The Scene” segments as the Features/Entertainment Reporter. She has interviewed some of the most famous people on earth like Oprah and George Clooney and does it all with an impeccable sense of style. There is no doubt that Shireen is also one of Miami’s best dressed reporters and she proudly shares her love of all things fashion on her blog “Shireen’s Favorite Things”.
She’s also worked as a freelance reporter for EXTRA, ESPN and ABC Family and is a distinguished member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association based in Hollywood, California. She is currently a member of the Channel 7 family. When asked about her proudest accomplishment she said:
"There are so many amazing things about working at WSVN & Deco Drive, but my proudest accomplishment is definitely becoming a film critic for the Broadcast Film Critics Association (based in Los Angeles.) Channel 7 was instrumental in making this happen.
They wanted me to grow as an Entertainment Reporter and fulfill my dreams of becoming a critic."[2]
Personal
She was born in Albuquerque New Mexico on the 15th of August.
She is one of Miami’s favorite fashionistas and expresses her love for all things fashion on her popular blog “Shireen’s Favorite Things,”[3] featured on the WSVN website.
Shireen has been married twice and divorced twice.
The second divorce was as a result of losing her baby to to a rare virus that sparked a neurological disorder.
