Shira Ovide is a New York City based columnist who covers the technology industry. She is currently a Technology Columnist for Bloomberg Opinon. Ovide is also well known for he previous role as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal covering the technology industry. [2][4]

Shira Ovide holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Haverford College. She also graduated from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism with a Master of Science. [7][4]

Shira Ovide has written about the technology industry for Bloomberg Opinion, the new home for Bloomberg's commentary on business, markets, politics since January 2018. She previously wrote for Bloomberg Gadfly, an extension of Bloomberg View which provided analysis on markets, finance, and technology news. In January 2018, Bloomberg Gadfly and Bloomberg View were unified into one opinion section, Bloomberg Opinion.

Ovide was previously a reporter at The Wall Street Journal, writing about technology from their San Francisco bureau from 2012-2015. Her coverage areas included companies such as Microsoft and Twitter and industry topics such as software, cloud computing and social media. From 2010-2012, Ovide was in New York as the Lead Writer for Deal Journal, The Journal’s online hub for news about corporate mergers and acquisitions, Wall Street and other financial issues. At The Journal, Ovide also has covered newspapers and magazines, media conglomerates and issues involving the news media as a Staff Writer from 2008-2010.

From 2006-2008, Ovide was Reporter at Dow Jones covering media and marketing. She began her career in media working as a Summer Intern at The Star-Ledger in the summer of 2006.
