Early Life and Education
Maguire grew up in Corona Del Mar, California and attended Corona del Mar High School. During the same, he worked as a framer at construction sites where he learned some Spanish. He went on to study mathematics at the University of Southern California and was an economics research associate and math grader. He graduated in 2007. After undergrad, Maguire earned several Masters degrees, including Statistics from Stanford University and mathematics and ‘control and dynamical systems’Caltech. Maguire is currently a Ph.d. student studying quantum information and Black Holes at Caltech and is expected to complete his studies in the spring of 2017. [1]
Career
In 2011-2012, Maguire did a year and a half of consulting work for DARPA. He was deployed to Afghanistan for three months and his team received a Joint Meritorious Unit Award for their work. In additon, Maguire has co-founded several companies, including the aerospace technology R&D Escape Dynamics and the computer software firm Qadium which he currently serves as their Chairman. Maguire became a partner at GV in October of 2016. [1]
Personal Life
Maguire is extremely interested in quantum computers and black holes.
Sustainable technology and renewable sources of power are causes close to his heart.
