Shaun Bridges

Shaun Bridges is a former secret service officer who plead guilty to stealing more than $800,000 in the digital currency that is bitcoins. [1] He was involved in the investigation concerning the online drug marketplace in the Dark Web known as Silk Road. [1]

He was sentenced to 71 months of maximum security prison, yet certain documents reveals he planned to leave the country just one day before the sentencing begun.

Court filings read:

"Government agents also found a MacBook with the serial numbers scratched off, an iPad tucked between a bedroom mattress and bulletproof vests, at least one of which had Secret Service markings and this is believed to have been stolen from the government".

Bridges moved the Bitcoins into his Mt.

Gox account.

They were worth more than $300,000 at the time of the theft.

Bridges moved the money into a Fideltity account called Quantum International Investments LLC between March and May of that year.

By then, the bitcoins were worth about $820,000.
