Early Life and Education
Sharla McBride was born on December 28, 1984, in Austin, Texas, United States. Sharla Mcbride was born to Richard McBride and Teresa McBride. Her father served in the United States Army combat infantry in Vietnam 1969-1970 and was awarded the bronze star and the Combat Infantry Badge. She was raised together with her brother, Richard McBride Jr.[2]
Sharla McBride studied Broadcasting and majored in International Affairs and Foreign Policies at the University of Georgia from 2003-2007.[1]
Career
Sharla McBride started her career at while she was in college, she interned at Atlanta’s FOX affiliate, WAGA-TV, and she was later employed there as an associate sports producer.[3]
Sharla McBride worked at ABC affiliate, KTXS-TV, Abilene, Texas as a sports reporter and fill-in anchor. She covered high school and college sports, and she also served as the Dallas Cowboys beat reporter covering home games from 2007 to 2008. In March of 2012, Sharla McBride began freelancing as a sports anchor at Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia (now NBC Sports Philadelphia). She anchored 6 pm & 10 pm Sportsnite weeknights and she also covered Live reports for Phillies Pre-Game.[4]
Sharla McBride worked at WNEP-TV as a sports anchor and reporter from 2008 to 2015. Sharla McBride also worked as an evening news anchor at WNEP-TV 16. Between 2015 to 2020, Sharla McBride co-anchors 6 pm, 7 pm, 10 pm, and 11 pm newscasts, weeknights for local ABC affiliate. She also produced and anchored nightly teases.
Sharla McBride has been privileged to act as an anchor and reporter in hit network shows such as Designated Survivor, Quantico, Mr. Robot, and HBO’s Succession.
Sharla McBride joined WUSA-TV as a sports anchor in March 2020.
Awards
Sharla McBride along with Greg Eibach won the awards for Outstanding Television Breaking News Report on WNEP in 2019.
