Shannon Biles is the biological mother of Olympian and Gold Medalist, Simone Biles.

Shannon struggled with drug and alcohol addiction throughout her life. She was unable to perform the proper duties as a parent due to her troubles, and she was forced to give up Simone and two of her other children to foster care. Simone's maternal grandparents adopted her when she was six.

Shannon Biles has stated she has been sober since 2007 and wants to have a closer relationship with her daughter.

On August 30th 2019 her son Tevin Biles-Thomas, whom she had to give up to foster care, was arrested in connection with the murder of three men.
