Shania Faith Costella was a student at Yosemite High School who lost her life in a car accident on January 8, 2017. ^{[2] [12]}

She was a standout player on her school's JV basketball team. ^[2]

Costella and her 17-year-old sister Savannah, were traveling eastbound on Road 426 in Oakhurst, California around 10:50 p.m. Saturday January 7, 2017, when she lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons. ^{[2] [12]}The cause of the crash is under investigation. ^{[11] [12]}

Savannah managed to escape the wreck and ran down Road 426 towards Highway 41 screaming for help.

Shania succumbed to her injuries on January 8, 2017.
