Shane Marcelino was an 18-year-old from Union City, California. ^[3]

Shane grew up in Union City and attended James Logan High School where she was a senior student. ^[10]An active member in her campus community, Shane played flute in her high school's band and was an honors student. ^[10]Shane was a fan of anime and in her free time enjoyed hanging out with friends. ^[-1]She is remembered for being a kind-hearted person who loved everyone. ^[10]

On the evening of May 14th, Shane and her mother were driving home from prom when a Chevy Malibu crashed into their Toyota Yaris. ^[10]They were two blocks away from their home. Shane died from her injuries while her mother, Maria was being treated for non-life threatening injuries. ^[3]
