On September 9, 2016 Shakeria Spaights's 5 month old was found starving after she abandoned him for three days.

The baby was found Friday under a dingy bed with a telephone cord around his neck.

New York City Police are still searching for Shakeria, who is now a fugitive and has not returned to the shelter.

When shelter workers realized she hadn’t signed into the building for three days, they went into the room on Friday.

They found Spaights’ infant son all alone under a bed, officials said.

A telephone cord was wrapped around the child’s neck but investigators aren’t sure if the mom placed it there or if he became entangled after she left, sources said.

The severely malnourished infant was taken to Lincoln Hospital, where he was recovering Saturday.

Shakeria has been arrested 15 times since 2003, for crimes including prostitution, criminal trespass and drug possession.
