Shaina Humphries is an American journalist currently working as an anchor of the 6 and 11 pm broadcast at FOX 29 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She worked as an anchor and reporter for six years at KCCI TV in Des Moines, Iowa.[1]
Personal Life
She has a Boston terrier dog called ‘Ellie’, who appears sometimes on her social media.
Shaina was voted ‘Best-looking Female Media Personality of 2018’ by the readers of the newsmagazine Des Moines CityView.
In her spare time, she enjoys working out and being in nature.
She is also very fond of biking, and has participated several times in the event The Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa.
She has also participated in the Chicago Marathon and completed the course once.
One of shaina fondest holiday memories is visiting Ireland, where she was especially taken with Kilkenny Castle.
Shaina is also a great fan of Coffee.
Education
Shaina Humphries attended the Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Illinois where she concluded her studies in 2007.
After, she went to the University of Illinois at Urbana, and majored in broadcast Journalism where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 2010.
After graduating, Shaina went on to study for her masters at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
She also worked in the Medill news section while studying there.
Career
After graduating from Northwestern University in 2012, Shaina was employed by KCCI News Channel 8.
Her talent for storytelling and Connecting with her audience were the main highlights that drew the attention of her employers.
While working there she was involved in major election cycles in a state that is known for its political upheavals.
She also got the chance to host a primetime special on the Life-Altering effects of addiction that raised further crucial awareness on the subject.
The special focused on families, Medical Professionals and emergency responders that were faced with the consequences of the epidemic.
Shaina was awarded an upper Midwest Emmy Award for her contribution to the discussion on the early days of the #MeToo Movement.
She joined the Fox 29 News team in February 2019, as an anchor for the Fox 29 News at Six and FOX 29 News at 11.[5]
While working for KCCI, Shaina experienced the excitement and chaos of covering four major election cycles in Iowa. She enjoyed the interesting and sometimes bizarre nature of Iowa’s political landscape; as well as the access to candidates provided by the state’s first-in-the-nation caucuses.
In 2017, Shaina led KCCI’s yearlong State of Addiction initiative, reporting almost exclusively on Iowa’s opioid addiction epidemic, in addition to her role as the station’s 9 p.m. anchor.
During that time, she told dozens of stories about addiction, recovery and the complicated role of opioids in modern medicine.
She hosted an Emmy-nominated 90-minute primetime special featuring families affected by opioid addiction, medical and healthcare professionals, local and federal law enforcement and emergency responders.
