Shahbaz Taseer is the son of slain Punjab governor and People's Party leader Salmaan Taseer.

In August 2011, just months after the assassination of his father, who was gunned down by his own security guard in January 2011, Shahbaz was abducted.

Shahbaz studied Law at SOAS, University of London.

Although he had security, they were not present when he was kidnapped.

Islamic extremist groups think of Shahbaz' father's assassin, Mumtaz Qadri, as a hero.

He was executed in February amid protests.

Shahbaz is married to Maheen Taseer.
