Sergio Toscano is a marine veteran and a firefighter for the United States Forest Service. ^[1]Toscan has been a firefighter with the U.S. Forest Service since 2012. ^[1]

On July 23, 2016 Toscano learned his home was burned to the ground by the The Sand Fire (Santa Clarita July 2016) while he was battling a blaze at Camp Pendleton in San Diego, California. ^{[4] [1]}

Two other United States Forest Service firefighters have lost their homes to The Sand Fire (Santa Clarita July 2016). Toscano said he would split donations from a Go Fund Me account with them. ^{[1] [4]}
