Seema Mehta is an American journalist based in Los Angeles, California. She is a writer at the Los Angeles Times and her area of interest is in politics. Education
Seema is a graduate of Syracuse University, where she bagged a degree in journalism. She completed a media fellowship at Stanford University, and served as an alumna-in-residence at Syracuse University. [1]
Seema studied the impact of automation and artificial intelligence on the Midwest and voters in the region as fellow from Knight-Wallace Fellowship at the University of Michigan.
Career
Seema is a reporter and news anchor for MSNBC, as well as on CNN, ABC, BBC, and other news outlets. She is an award-winning reporter who knows her onions. She was named one of the top state reporters in politics in the United States by the Washington Post.
As a political reporter she has covered the 2008, 2012 and 2016 presidential campaigns for The Times, as well as numerous gubernatorial, Senate and mayoral races in the United States.
Awards
Her reporting on Las Vegas mass shooting won a 2018 Sigma Delta Chi award for deadline online reporting. She also won the 2004 Pulitzer Prize for breaking news on devastating wild fire. [1]
In 2008, she was an awardee of John Swett being prize for the excellence exuded in an investigative series about the Santa Ana Unified School District creating false class rosters to qualify for state class-size reduction funding. [1]
