Sean Hassan

Sean Hassan

Sean Hassan is a Muslim-American politician. He's currently running for office in Texas and can potentially be the ONLY Muslim elected to office in the state. [1]

He's a candidate for election to the Board of Trustees for the Austin Community College District. [undefined] The system enrolls 60,000 students but has a very low rate of students actually completing their intended degree program or certificate: only 25% of full-time students ever complete their intended degree or certification, and only 12% of part-time students do. Sean believes there are too many barriers that prevent students from completing their desired program, and he aims to systematically reduce those Barriers.

Sean’s experience includes serving as Vice-President of Boys & Girls Club that immersed several hundred Black and Latino students in STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math), in partnership with local Employers. Prior to that, Sean directed voter registration and field organizing in Nevada for President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.

Sean is a graduate of Stanford Law School and Tufts University, where he majored in International Relations. [undefined]

Sean's campaign is currently accepting donations.

[undefined] The Austin Chronicle has endorsed Hassan, saying "A three-way race with a clear winner.... Sean Hassan stands out from the field for his passion, insight, and commitment to practical solutions to access and enrollment Issues." [undefined]
