On September 9, 2017, Officer Aranas was recorded on video ticketing a hot dog vendor, identified as Juan, rifling through his wallet and confiscating his money.

The video was recorded by Martin Flores and has gone viral on social media. [1] [5]Flores was buying food for his children and turned on the camera when he saw Officer Aranas stop Juan to ticket him for selling food without a permit. [1] [4]

In the video, Officer Aranas takes Juan's wallet, Juan then pleads in Spanish for his "dinero," meaning money.

Flores can be heard off-camera saying, "That's not right … you're going to take his hard-earned money?"[1] [5] [4]

"Yep, this is law and order in action," Officer Aranas, replied.
