Ogree II Climb
On August 21st, Adamson and his climbing partner, Kyle Dempster, embarked on the very first north face ascent on the 23,900-foot Ogre II, which is a mountain that is part of the Baintha Brakk.
After two days it was reported they were never heard from again.
The pair were supposed to be back by August 26th.
A search mission ensued, and on September 3rd, two Pakistani military helicopter were deployed in attempts to find them.
Bad weather hindered the rescue missions for some time until September 2nd when four guides had been dispatched to search the mountain on foot.
Adamson and Dempster attempted the same climb the previous year and failed, nearly dying.
Adamson suffered a broken leg.
The peak has only been reached once before, by a Korean team in the 1980s via a less difficult route.
On September 3rd, it was reported that the families of the climbers have decided to call off the search.
Search team members as well as expert observers agreed the chances of finding any sign of the two in the remote part of the Karakoram range were extremely slim.
Adamson's partner, Dempster stated the following about their attempt to climb the Ogre II:
βItβs a journey to something that inspires you...
On that journey, you go through the feeling of fear and to an eventual outcome.
You use your pool of experience and common sense and intuition to help make decisions and mitigate the dangers.β
A Go Fund Me was established to help with the search.
