Career

Since June 2014 he has been a Product manager for Google Search and Assistant at Google in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he leads the Product management team responsible for Media (TV, Movies, Music, Books, Games, Apps etc.) and Finance on Google Search, the Google Assistant and Google Now, l eads Product Management for Search and Answers in the Google Assistant, and tries to " make your favorite search engine and personal assistant a little more awesome everyday."

Since 2015 he has been a Mentor at 500 Startups.

Since 2013 he has been a Guest lecturer at the Stanford University.

From March 2013 to June 2014 he was a Chief of staff for YouTube Product and Engineering at YouTube in the San Francisco Bay Area. His r esponsibilities included d riving strategic half-yearly planning for all of YouTube Product and Engineering (1000+ people), r unning Product and Eng staff meetings, strategy sessions and headcount planning for YouTube leadership, making sure our highest priorities are well executed on, c ommunicating the YouTube story internally and externally including writing the YouTube section in the Google Board letter, demos for Google execs and the Google Board, e xecutive speeches and emails, and representing YouTube leadership in internal meetings and presentations, and s pecial projects including Product Manager for nascent initiatives, planning for growth, product strategy and employee happiness.

Between September 2012 and June 2014 Satyajeet Salgar was a Lead Product Manager for YouTube Sports, News and Live in the San Francisco Bay Area, where drove requirements, prioritized features and launched features including Technical Infrastructure, Viewer experiences (WEB, Android, iOS and Tv), Creator Management tools, Developer APIs, Partner Reporting and Advertising Solutions for live-streaming on YouTube. He also led Live engineering teams in 3 locations and drove requirements within many other teams at YouTube and at Google, presented the YouTube Live and on YouTube Sports/News strategy at numerous Partner events and Industry panels, and led a large cross-functional team including Business development, Operations, Sales, Legal and Marketing including vetting acquisition candidates and startups in the space. Besides these, he was also responsible for product strategy and deal negotiation for YouTube’s largest Sports and News partners including the NBATV, MLB, NYTimes.com etc. at the CXO level.

From June 2011 to September 2012 he was a Product Manager for Games at Google in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he l ed and coordinated a team of PMs that conceived of, built and took to dogfood the Google Play Games apps and developer APIs, i nterfaced with leading Gaming companies, internal stakeholders across Google to build v1 of the product and take it to dogfood, d rove a single gaming strategy and executive buy-in across Google anchored around Google Play Games, h elped recruit engineers, designers and PMs to the team, d rove product and UX requirements for Gaming APIs, the Google+ games user experiences and interactions, d rove partner strategy, deal negotations and executive interactions with leading partners including Rovio, Disney, Wooga, King.com etc., g rew product usage and user retention through viral loops and game mechanics, and w as the public face of Google+ games announcing game launches, interacting with gaming executives and startups in the space.

Between September 2009 and May 2011 he was a Product Manager for Commerce and Payments at Google in the Greater New York City, where he c onceived and launched a single buy-flow for Google, that powers payments on all Google properties today including Android Market, the Chrome Web Store, Books, YouTube, Voice etc., and was a lea d product manager for Google Checkout- he drove their merchant and developer features including APIs, analytics, gadgets, reporting and end-to-end solutions for different verticals.

From August 2007 to September 2009 he was a Partner Product Manager at YouTube / Google in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he d rove partner strategy and operations for YouTube Mobile, Device, Gaming, and Consumer electronics partnerships, Content Partnerships (Movies, Music, TV), Video Syndication and Monetization, and Video Advertising.

Between August 2007 and September 2009 he was a Partner Technology Manager for TV Ads at Google in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he worked on Google TV Ads, YouTube, Online videos, Strategic Partnerships, TV, and Operations and Partner Management.

From June 2006 to August 2006 he was a Summer Senior Associate at Diamond management and technology partners consultants in the Greater Chicago area.

Between August 2002 and June 2005 he was a Software engineer in Decru Inc.

From April 2002 to June 2002 he was a Graduate teaching assistant at the Stanford University. He was in TA-ed Prof. David Cheriton's Distributed System's class (CS244B).

Between September 2001 and March 2002 he was a Research assistant at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. It was a Research in conjoint analysis for Prof. Seenu Srinivasan.

From 2000 to 2001 he was a Research Assistant/Software Engineer at SKOLAR Inc.
