Sarma Melngailis is the previous founder and owner of Pure Food and Wine in New York, New York.
During 2014-2016 Melngailis failed to pay her employees and investors due to her embezzlement of $2 million from the company.
Melngailis was on the lam for 10 months but was arrested and later imprisoned on May 22, 2016.
She is serving a 15 year sentence for 24 counts of theft, labour fraud, and tax crime charges.
She wrote a book, One Lucky Duck.
