James Franco Controversy
Tweets made by Sarah Tither-Kaplan alleging that James Franco exploited her.
On the night of the Golden Globes, which took place on January 7th, 2018, actor James Franco began receiving backlash online for his odd behavior throughout the awards show, including a moment
after winning the award for best actor, yanks Tommy Wiseau from speaking on the microphone. James had gestured to Wiseau to come to the stage, and when Wiseau attempted to speak on the microphone, he pulled him away. [1] **
The other controversy that took shape simultaneously throughout the night were the thousands of tweets by women who opposed Franco's "timesup" pin at the awards show for its seemingly hypocritical message.
According to Tither-Kaplan, who was one of the women who was retweeted the most, alleged that Franco had exploited her in his film productions.
Tither-Kaplan said the following:
'Hey James Franco, nice #timesup pin at the #GoldenGlobes, remember a few weeks ago when you told me the full nudity you had me do in two of your movies for $100/day wasn't exploitative because I signed a contract to do it?
Times up on that!'
Sarah Tither-Kaplan and Franco had worked on several projects together including an indie film called, The Long Home.
