Sarah Longfield (1 October 1994) is an American guitarist from Madison, Wisconsin, and former frontwoman of progressive metal band The Fine Constant. Longfield is rated one of the world's best seven- and eight-string guitarists by Guitar World , and is currently signed to Season of Mist Records. [1]
Career
Longfield has been playing guitar since she was 12 years of age.
At age 13 Longfield began playing seven-string guitar, and transitioned to eight-string guitar shortly thereafter.
Longfield's music and technique draw heavily on progressive and technical death metal influences including Cynic, The Dilinger Escape Plan, Meshuggah, and Necrophagist.
Longfield has been uploading clips of cover songs and her own original music to YouTube since 2008, and her channel now boasts over 100 videos, over 175,000 subscribers, and nearly 13 million views.
In 2012 Longfield formed The Fine Constant with a group of other musicians from Madison, Wisconsin. The Fine Constant released two albums and toured the world with acts including ex-Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman before disbanding in early 2018.
Longfield signed to Season of Mist Records in early 2018, and is currently sponsored by Strandberg Guitars, EMG Pickups, and Dunlop Strings.
