Sara Aliza Eisen (born August 7, 1985) is an American business news anchor. She is currently an achor for Closing Bell on CNBC.

Early Life & Education

Sara Eisen grew up in a practicing Jewish family in Cincinatti, Ohio. Her father Dr. Drore Eisen is a dermatologist in Cincinnati and is also a founder and the medical director of CDx Diagnostics, a laboratory specializing in cancer detection and cancer prevention, in Suffern, N.Y. Sara Eisen's mother Dr. Jane Eisen is a retired pediatric dentist.

Sara Eisen attended the Wisconsin chapter of Camp Ramah a Jewish summer camp that operates in the United States, Canada, and Israel. The camp's alumni include Ben Bernanke, Wolf Blitzer, Michael Dell, and Jake Tapper. At the camp she was involved in theater and dance. She later joined the staff of Camp Ramah working as an aerobics instructor for two years.

Sara Eisen earned her Bachelor's degree at New York University. She later graduated from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism with a Master's degree in Broadcast Journalism and a concentration in Business Reporting.

Career

ForexTV.com

Sara Eisen started her career in business journalism after taking an internship broadcasting at a startup website named ForexTV.com during her undergrad. ForexTv.com was a site dedicated to covering the foreign exchange market and currencies. It was here where, she gained a passion for Forex.

Bloomberg TV

After finishing her undergrad Sara Eisen continued with her education studying business journalism at Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. While studying at the school she interned at Bloomberg Television in Hong Kong. In this role, she did behind-the-scenes production, writing and editing packages, and general production assistant work while there. She was based in Hong Kong for about four months, and I got to traveled around the region. She also went to the Philippines where she reported on stories like 2008 global rice crisis.

After graduation Sara Eisen moved to New York City to join Bloomberg TV full time as a production assistant in 2008, during the middle of the Great Recession. She often contributed to stories about the US dollar at this time which was surging. While working as a production assistant she also started covering currencies for Bloomberg Radio where she would do a daily one-minute currency update everyday. After her success on Bloomberg Radio she started covering currencies on Bloomberg TV.

Sara Eisen later co-anchored Bloomberg Surveillance along with Tom Keene. During this time she started covering more international stories including the European debt crisis, interviewing top political leaders and finance ministers. She also covered the aftermath of the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami and the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster on the ground in Japan.

CNBC

Sara Eisen joined CNBC in December 2013 as a correspondent focusing on the global consumer.

She is co-anchor of the 10AM ET hour of CNBC's Squawk on the Street (M-F, 9AM-11AM ET), broadcast from Post 9 at the New York Stock Exchange. In addition, Sara is a co-anchor of Closing Bell. [55]

In January 2016, Eisen was named co-anchor of CNBC's Worldwide Exchange (M-F, 5AM-6AM ET), which broadcasts from CNBC Global Headquarters in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. CNBC anchors typically receive salaries of $600,000-$700,000 annually according to Glassdoor.

On June 22, 2020, Sara Eisen started working solely on Closing Bell alongside Wilfred Frost, according to a memo from Dan Colarusso, senior vice president of CNBC Business News. "We want Sara to have the ability to focus on a part of the day that, while always crucial, has become even more critical to our audience in these volatile times," he said.[147]

Writings

Sara Eisen edited and provided her commentary on "Currencies After the Crash: The Uncertain Future of the Global Paper-Based Currency System" a college textbook published by McGraw-Hill in January, 2013.

On Monday, May 14, 2012, Sara Eisen was caught with her skirt hiked up during a Bloomberg TV segment.

She had been adjusting the sizable battery pack for her microphone, located below her waist, when her colleague on-camera had some technical difficulties and, to avoid dead air, a cameraman unexpectedly panned over to Eisen in mid-adjustment.

Sara immediately pushed her skirt back down and recovered her composure and gave a run-down on the Spanish banking situation.

Videos and GIFs of the incident went viral receiving over 13,000 upvotes on Reddit and other meme sites. The incident was also covered in outlets including the Daily Dot, Daily Mail, and Gizmodo.

Sara Eisen is the wife of Matthew Levine a managing editor at Bloomberg Televison. The family lives in New York City and have two children together.

On May 29, 2016 Sara Eisen married Matthew Stone Levine at Weylin B. Seymour’s, an event space in Brooklyn. Rabbi Gavriel Bellino officiated the marriage. The couple met while they were both working at Bloomberg TV.

Hobbies

Sara Eisen enjoys eating out at restaurants in New York City, some of her favorites include, Santina, Franny's, and o ya.

She also enjoys listening to the music of Kendrick Lamar, Robyn, Charli XCX and Kesha. When at home she watches little financial news instead watching shows like The Bachelor with her husband.

Charity Work

Sara Eisen supports the Simon Wiesenthal Center, an organization that teaches the lessons on the Holocaust confronting anti-semitism and all kinds of hate. She was inspired to join the organization by her grandparents who were both survivors of the Holocaust.

She is also involved with Room to Read, a charity that promotes girls' education and children's literacy in underserved communities in the developing world.
