The Stare Down
On June 25, 2016, when the semifinal Game of the College World Series between Coastal Carolina University and Texas Christian University, a young boy, Samuel, stared deeply into the lens of the camera broadcasting live on ESPN. The Camera cut from game play to Samuel back and forth - the broadcasters could not back down from the amusing stare down. [1] The stare has been recently declared racist and activist groups are investigating the incident.
On Tuesday night, ‘Stare Down Sammy’ was back for more. He’s here at TD Ameritrade Park, fresh new haircut and all, and he’s turned into a bit of a local celebrity. Sammy was interviewed on the ESPN broadcast by Kaylee Hartung, and as usual, he nailed it. He also made it up on stadium video board, where he triumphed in, you guessed it, a staring contest.
Sammy became a supporter of the Coastal Carolina University*baseball team after they ended winning the College World Series. When asked "why" he jumped on the bandwagon of the team after they won the series he just stared at the reporter.
The Tour
Sammy has since announced that he will be taking the year off of school and to visit 36 city tour of staring.
The tour being appropriately named "Don't care, I'm gonna stare" is set to launch at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California on August 23. The show is being described as high energy, dialogue free staring.
