Dr. Saifedean Ammous (Arabic: د. سيف الدين عموص) is Assistant Professor of economics at the Adnan Kassar School of Business at Lebanese American University. Ammous is an expert on and proponent of cryptocurrency, and is the author of the forthcoming book Bitcoin Standard: The Decentralized Alternative to Central
Banking, to be published by John Wiley & Sons on 24 April 2018.
His latest book is called Bitcoin Standard: The Decentralized Alternative to Central Banking which has instantly become a must-read in the blockchain space.
Biography
Education
Following his graduation from the American University of Beirut in 2003 with a BE in mechanical engineering, Ammous went on to earn a MSc in development management from the London School of Economics in 2004, followed by a MA (2006), MPhil (2007), and PhD (2011) in sustainable development from Columbia University.
Career
After graduating from college in Beirut, he was appointed as a teaching assistant at Columbia University in New York three times after Jeffrey Sachs’ Challenges of sustainable development course, and other graduate courses. He would eventually also become an instructor for many years.
He was also a visiting scholar at Columbia University on Capitalism and Society.
He was an associate professor of economics at the Lebanese American University for many years. He was also a lecturer in economics.
