Ryu (rapper)

Ryan Patrick Maginn, known professionally as Ryu, is an American rapper and producer. He is a member of Styles of Beyond, Demigodz and is also a very frequent guest on tracks from the hip-hop group Fort Minor.

History:

Ryu first got started while he was working at an import car shop in Artesia, CA. He would then take part in freestyle battles after the shop closed at night. One day, his friend, who went by the name of Redeem (who is sadly deceased) recognized his talent and convinced him to record a "radio drop" for the famous independent show "The Joint With Mike Nardone". Perhaps not long after this, Ryu formed his first hip-hop group called The Brigade, consisting of him, Redeem and Gravity Christ. Despite not recording anything, it was a starting point for his career. Around 1999, he also appears to have recorded an album which was never released. [1] [undefined] He would even take part on lots of Wake Up Show freestyle sessions togheter with Takbir "Tak" Bashir as part of Styles of Beyond.
