Ryan X. Charles is an American entrepreneur and blockchain enthusiast based in San Francisco, CA. He is the founder of Yours, a content sharing platform.

Ryan grew up in Missouri and graduated from Parkway South High School. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and graduated in 2007 with a degree in Physics and Mathematics. He was a PhD candidate in Physics for the Washington University in St. Louis until 2013.

Ryan has been a programmer for over 20 years and started as a Full-stack Freelance Web Designer-Developer in the St. Louis area. While studying for his Master's at Washington University at St. Louis, Ryan researched high energy Astrophysics and Bayesian probability theory. He been in the bitcoin space since 2011 and started working on bitcoin software full-time in 2013 when he joined Bitpay.

At BitPay, Ryan lead the development of bitcore, BitPay's javascript implementation of bitcoin, and designed and lead the development of Copay, the world's first p2p multisig wallet.

He left BitPay to join Reddit in 2014 as the "world's first official cryptocurrency engineer" where he lead the development of Reddit's cryptoequity project, Reddit notes. When Reddit changed leadership and decided not to continue that project. He joined BitGo as a Software Engineer to work on bitcoin multisig security. Ryan has written 20,000+ lines of open-source bitcoin software in javascript, including his own implementation of bitcoin, now called Yours Bitcoin.

Ryan has been a teacher at Blockchain University since 2014 and an advisor at Hedgy, a blockchain based smart oracle, since 2015.

Ryan founded of the bitcoin-based social media company, Yours in 2015 as well.
