On Sunday August 6, 2017, Acosta was shot to death by her husband, Christopher Michael Diaz. The couple were at the apartment of Diaz’s mother in the 1200 block of West Victoria Avenue on Sunday night. A witness said the couple argued just before 10 p.m. Diaz, a documented gang member, is considered armed and dangerous by the police. Acosta’s mother, Alicia Acosta, said her daughter had filed for divorce and was eight weeks pregnant with another man’s child. Acosta had three children, the oldest daughter from a man who is serving life in prison. ^[0]
