Roomi was founded on June 9, 2013 by Ajay Yadav.
[0]After learning that people between the ages of 18 to 34, on average, move to new locations every 6 to 9 months.
[11]People are moving so frequently due to new job opportunities and living a more nomadic lifestyle.
As a result, when someone moves, Yadav wanted to create a platform that can help people sublet their apartments and find new roommates with matching amenities and interests.
[8]In the peer-to-peer marketplace, tenants can post rooms in apartment listings, connect through their in-app chat, and/or share their home.
[1]The app also provides background-checked profiles from the tenants.
On Jun 9, 2015, Roomi raised $2 million in funding at a $7 million valuation.
On July 28, 2016, they received $4,000,000 in seed funding at a $14 million valuation.
On November 14, 2017, Roomi raised $11 million in a Series A round.
