Career
Began in 1975

He began his career in 1975 and spent much of his early years doing boxing matchmaking in White Plains,New York. He did much of his matchmaking work for Top Rank,which is located in Las Vegas.
Katz is a member of the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame and he was inducted into the Atlantic City Hall of Fame in 2020.
Ron Katz is widely considered to be one of the best matchmakers of all time as his bouts have been televised on Home Box Office, Showtime, ESPN, and pay-per-view. [1]

Worked For Top Rank
Katz worked for Butch Lewis Productions for three years and then was recruited by the fledging Houston Boxing Association led by millionaire heiress Josephine Abercrombie. Over the next four years Katz gained a reputation as one of boxing's elite matchmakers.
In 1986, he was hired by Bob Arum to do matchmaking for Top Rank. He worked for Top Rank for 16 years and his shows were shown weekly on ESPN. After working for Top Rank he was employed by Sugar Ray Leonard's promotional company for five years. He was then hired by New York based company Star Boxing Inc., which is owned by Joe DeGuardia. As of 2019 he works for Star Boxing.
Katz was selected as “Matchmaker of the Year” for seven consecutive years by The Ring. He worked with Floyd Mayweather, Mike Tyson, Oscar De la Hoya, Michael Spinks and hundreds of other boxers.
Hall of Fame Matchmaker
The Ring 8 and New York State Boxing Hall of Fame was founded in 1954 and its current president is Bob Duffy. Ron Katz was inducted into the New York State Boxing Hall of Fame in 2016. After recieving his induction, he stated in a 2017 ceremony:
During the past 42 years, I've had the pleasure of working with so many great fighters,over 200 champions.
I've had the pleasure to work for so some great promoters, to say I've worked for some of the giants of this industry is an understatement.I
learned so much from Johnny Bos, Mickey Duff,Bruce Trampler, and my mentor Teddy Brenner. I'm
so grateful to them.
Ron has lived in Hicksville, New York with his wife Barbara since 1990.

Hall Of Famer
Although Ron Katz has recieved hall of fame enshrinement,he is still as active in boxing as he has ever been.
After a string of ring fatalities in 2019, he left a private meeting with officials from the New York State Athletic Commission on October 23, 2019 hopeful that new, costlier health insurance regulations could be amended after they had met earlier approval.
