Romy Aura Maloon is a first generation American, born of South African parents.  Her work is an attempt to ingratiate and reconcile the disparate identities and geographic spaces of her upbringing and ancestral background create. Working as a caterer and event coordinator, her material use is often associated with social events, décor crafting and site specific exploration. Romy’s works have been exhibited throughout Georgia and Florida, including at the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center. She participated in Tomorrow Stars, the Verge Art Miami Beach in conjunction with Art basel miami. She is a current 2014-2015 Walthall Artist Fellow and currently working on a Public Art project for The Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs Elevate Atlanta. Romy studied Fine Arts at the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida.
