Pre-MMA Life
In August, 2008 Romero Cotton and his younger brother Ja'Mon were involved in a violent incident in which they beat up a 45 year old man name Earl M. Iverson.
The brothers had pleaded guilty to a single count of aggravated battery.
While Ja'Mon who was 15 years old at the time of the incident received twelve months community corrections, Romero Cotton was to serve a 38 month prison term.
Cotton was initially bailed but after he violated terms of his probation by failing urinalysis for Marijuana on three separate occasions his bond was revoked and he had to serve his sentence.

Romero Cotton also played football in college, spending his Freshman year at Corhhuskers before transferring to UNK where he played for the next 3 years.
Mixed Martial Arts
Romero Cotton joined the American Kickboxing Academy to pursue a career in Combat sports.
He was eventually signed by Bellator MMA and made his debut at Bellator 181 in July, 2017.
