Two armed men attempted to rob a Kay Jewelers inside the Rolling Oaks Mall at about 3.30 p.m. ^{[4] [0]}An unarmed man who tried to stop the gunmen was shot and killed, before another bystander took out his licensed concealed weapon and shot one of the suspects. ^{[4] [2]}

Six others were also injured when the second suspect opened fire as he fled the scene.

He is still at large and police are currently searching for him.
