Rodney Axson is a junior at Brunswick High School and plays on the football team. ^[undefined] He has a 3.5 G.P.A., which is the highest on the team, and aspires to be a defense attorney. ^[undefined] He is from outside of Cleveland, Ohio. ^[1]

Protest and Aftermath

On September 2nd, Axson took a knee during the national anthem.

Rodney did not intend to protest but was compelled to after he overheard his teammates saying the "Nigger" to describe members of an opposing team. He is the first high school player and fourth player nationwide to protest the national anthem. ^[undefined]

In the days following his actions, Rodney was harassed by several of teammates and said that they directed "nigger" at him multiple times.

In addition, a Snapchat emerged that said "Fuck Rodney" and "Lets Lynch Niggers." ^[666666]

Rodney has stated he will continue to protest.
