Hodges with his wife.
He lived in the West Sacramento area with his wife, Mai Sheng Hodges, and two children. The children were students at Southport Elementary School. They lived on the 250 block of Touchstone Place in the Southport neighborhood. [1]
Robert Hodges has no prior arrest record or criminal history.
He was ticketed in 2007 for a defective windshield, though the fine was later dismissed.
[1]He paid off a speeding ticket given to him in 2004, as well as one given to him a year later after he failed to stop at an intersection with a broken traffic signal.
In the 2005 case, Hodges was also cited for driving an unregistered car.
At around 9 p.m. on September 13th, 2017, a domestic abuse call was placed for the Hodges residence after screaming and yells were heard by the neighbors.
According to testimony by his wife, Mai Sheng Hodges, was being violently choked by Robert. She then ran out of the apartment to seek safety. [1]
When Mai Sheng returned inside of the apartment and headed upstairs, she saw that her children were dead, and her husband, Robert, gone.
The police arrived 20 minutes after and found Mai Sheng Hodges devastated. When the cops arrived, they confirmed the dead children. The officers tried to revive them. Shortly thereafter, the firefighters arrived and took over. The three - a boy described as being 10 or 11, a girl 7-8 and an infant - were declared dead. [0]
Arrest
The following day on Thursday morning, September 14th, 2017, Hodges was located by the California Highway Patrol off Interstate 80 off West El Camino.
Hodges was arrested and booked into the Monroe Detention Center, the main jail for Yolo County. [1]
