Robert Liu was a 20 year old student at Indiana University. He was a Finance major and was slated to start his senior year at the Kelley School of Business. Before attending Indiana University in Bloomington Indiana, Liu lived in Edmonton, Alberta in Canada. ^{[3] [0]}

During the summer of 2016, Liu worked as an investment banking summer analyst at the investment bank PJT Partners in New York, New York and was staying at a New York University dorm located on Lafayette St. in the Greenwich Village area of New York. ^{[0] [1]}

Robert had three previous science and finance related internships at companies including Maxim Partners, Siemens Health Care, Cummins, and Eli Lily & Co.. ^[0]

At Indiana University, Liu was involved in the Alpha Kappa Psi, the school's Investment Banking Workshop, and the Investment Banking Club. ^[0]

Awards

On June 6, 2016 Liu's roommate found him hanging from a closet door with a belt looped around his neck at their Lafayette St. dorm at New York University. ^[1]

Police said that no suicide note was found, and that Liu didn’t have a history of depression.
