Robert Byrd is married to Adelaide Byrd, who is also a boxing referee.
Adelaide has judged multiple high profile MMA fights since 2006, including UFC 196 (when Nate Diaz defeated Conor McGregor) and UFC 202 (when McGregor defeated Diaz). [1]
Career
Robert Byrd has been licensed boxing referee in Nevada since 2002 and before that he refereed in California. Prior to his boxing referee career, Robert Byrd was a California Highway Patrol officer. [2]

On May 4, 2013, Robert Byrd refereed the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Robert Guerrero fight; Floyd Mayweather had a unanimous win.
He also refereed Andre Ward’s first win over Sergey Kovalev and Saul Canelo Alvarez’s memorable victory over Miguel Cotto in Miguel Cotto vs. Canelo Álvarez on November 21, 2015.
